Riverdale N.Y. – The St. Joseph's women's basketball team (8-6, 3-3 Skyline) defeated Mount Saint Vincent (4-9, 1-5 Skyline) in a thrilling, 64-62, overtime victory. The win keeps the women in fourth place overall in the conference.

Junior forward Amanda Bender (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) led all scorers with 17 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Laura Cohen (Smithtown, N.Y./ Smithtown East) added 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the floor. Senior guard Nicole Redding (Smithtown, N.Y./ Smithtown West) added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles got out to a slow start in the first half shooting only 15.2% from the floor and went into the locker room down 30-19 at the half.  In the second half, the Dolphins controlled most of the tempo and never relinquished the lead until late as St. Joseph's wouldn't go down quietly and kept battling back. With the clock showing 2:25 left in the game, the Lady Eagles closed out regulation with a 9-0 run capped by a game tying three-pointer by Laura Cohen with nine seconds remaining in the game.

At the start of overtime, St. Joseph's continued their hot streak jumping to a seven-point lead on a layup by Cohen with 3:16 showing on the clock. The Dolphins missed the game-tying jumper with two seconds left to give the Golden Eagles their third Skyline Conference victory of the year.

Up next for St. Joseph's is a battle for third place at Old Westbury (9-6, 4-2 Skyline) at 7:00 p.m. on January 19. The women lost both games to the Panthers last season and will be looking for revenge Thursday night.
