Abbatiello & Friel Named to All-Skyline Conference Tennis Team

New York, N.Y. – Junior Igal Mostkov of Yeshiva has been named the 2014 Skyline Men's Tennis Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's seven head coaches.

The Skyline coaches also selected Farmingdale State's Tyler Danzy as Rookie of the Year and Ira Miller of Yeshiva as Coach of the Year.

Mostkov is a perfect 9-0 at the No. 1 singles flight entering the Maccabees' Skyline semifinal match versus Farmingdale State on Apr. 24.  The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native has dropped just one set all season and did not lose a game in his three of his victories.  Mostkov also boasts an 11-1 record at the No. 1 doubles flight on the year.

A two-time Rookie of the Week selection, Danzy is 7-2 at the No. 1 singles position – including a 5-1 ledger in Skyline play.  The Central Islip, N.Y., resident has also compiled four victories at the No. 1 doubles flight and earned Skyline Player of the Week distinction on Mar. 17.

Mostkov and Danzy are joined on the All-Conference first team by NYU-Poly teammates Massimo Boni and Chris Lysiuk; Brandon Abbatiello of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Greg Jacob of Mount Saint Mary; and Yeshiva's Dmitri Lebedyev.

The second team All-Conference includes Farmingdale State's Kevin Palacios; Riley Damerell and Dylan DeBiase of Purchase; Mount Saint Mary's Nate Dimmie; Adam Friel of St. Joseph's-L.I.; and Steven Jemal of Yeshiva.

In his first season at Yeshiva, Miller has guided the program to a 9-1 mark this spring and the No. 2 seed in the Skyline Championship.  The Maccabees notched a 5-1 record in conference play and all five of their victories came by 9-0 margins.
