Patchogue,NY | The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team was defeated by the College of Mount St. Vincent, 74-41, in a Skyline Conference matchup on Tuesday night inside the Danzi Center. With the loss, the Golden Eagles slip to 1-5 (0-3 Skyline) while the Dolphins improve to 3-4 (2-1 Skyline).

In a match that saw zero lead changes, Mount St. Vincent would get on the board first courtesy of a Nicole Henderson jump shot a minute into the game. After falling behind 12-4 at 04:34, a three-pointer by Jackie Zizzo cut the Golden Eagles' deficit to five points in the first, but an 8-3 run by the Dolphins reestablished Mount St. Vincent's commanding lead.

The Dolphins maintained a double-digit lead (24-14) well into the second quarter, before exploding with an 18-4 run to put the Dolphins ahead 42-18 at the 2:40 mark. The two sides then exchanged baskets before Mount St. Vincent headed into break with a 24-point lead.

The Dolphins started the third quarter with a 9-1 run to increase the hosts' deficit to 32 (54-22) at 4:31. Despite a made layup by Andrea Iavarone, CMSV ended the third frame with a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 37 (63-26).

Alicia Indence scored the first basket in the final quarter with a made three-pointer before Dez Browne answered back with a made jumper. The two teams traded baskets until the final seconds as the Dolphins sailed to a 74-41 victory.

Iavarone led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 22 points in addition to adding nine rebounds and two blocks. Indence dropped six points and grabbed three boards.

The Golden Eagles shot just 26.3% from the field compared to the Dolphins' 47.8%. The Dolphins also held advantages in rebounds (43-36) and assists (25-9).

The Golden Eagles return action on Saturday, December 10 when they host Skyline rival Farmingdale St. at 1:00pm. Live stats will be available here.
