Women's Tennis Falls to Oneonta, 9-0

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team was handed a 9-0 defeat at the hands of the Oneonta College on Saturday afternoon at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles open their campaign with a 3-2 mark as the Red Dragons improve to 7-0 on the year.

Oneonta swept the doubles matches with an 8-6 win at first doubles, an 8-0 win at second doubles and an 8-5 win at third.

SJC's Alana Caporale took the first loss for SJC in the singles matches with a 6-2, 6-2 loss at fourth singles and Nora Burnett's 6-0, 6-0 loss at third singles clinched the win for the Red Dragons.

Victoria Panicola (2nd singles) fared best, forcing her matches to tiebreakers which ended with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 scoreline.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, September 27 when they host Skyline rival Farmingdale St. in a rematch of the 2017 Skyline Conference Championship. The match is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
