Women's Tennis Blanks Sarah Lawrence

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team dropped just one game in a 9-0 victory over Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence College at home on Friday evening.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 6-2 overall on the year and remain undefeated in conference play (4-0). The Gryphons slip to 1-9 on year (1-5 Skyline) with the loss.

Three 8-0 victories in doubles play courtesy of Victoria Panicola and Taylor Hanscom at first doubles, Amanda Post and Nora Burnett at second doubles, and Mackenzie Martocci and Alana Caporale at third doubles ensured the hosts took a 3-0 lead into the singles matches.

Burnett picked up one of five 8-0 singles victories for SJC and put the Golden Eagles on the brink of victory, and Hanscom at second singles clinched the win with an 8-0 victory of her own.

The Golden Eagles, who are tied for first in the conference with SUNY Purchase, return to action on Saturday, October 13 when they host Mount St. Mary College for a Skyline Conference contest at 3:00 pm.
