Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2018 season with a 6-3 victory over Hunter College at the Outdoor Field Complex on Wednesday evening.
The win brings the Golden Eagles to 1-1 on the year as the Hawks slip to 0-1.
SJC's tandems of Victoria Panicola and Nora Burnett, and Alana Caporale and Lindsey Charrier picked up wins at second and third doubles (8-3 and 8-0), respectively, and enabled the hosts to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
After Caporale (6-0, 6-2) and Hanscom (6-1, 6-1) won their fifth singles and third singles matches, junior Mackenzie Martocci sealed the SJC victory at sixth singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, September 9 when they visit William Paterson for a non-conference match at 11:00 am.
