Women's Volleyball Splits Non-Conference Tri-Match

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference contests at the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles took down Baruch College 3-1 before falling to Montclair State University, 3-1.

SJC 3, Baruch 1

After dropping the first set of the afternoon, 25-17, the Golden Eagles recovered to take the next three sets, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21, to come away with the 3-1 win.

Junior Jessica Young led the Golden Eagles with 13 kills, five block assists, and a solo block. Sophomore Amanda Goldstein finished in double digits with 11 kills and freshman Lauren Harmer rounded out the top scorers with nine kills.

Junior setter Brionna Silva dished a match-best 35 assists with senior libero Danielle Senecal recorded a match-high 22 digs.

Anita Sengara led the Bearcats with 14 kills with Claudia Daporta pitching in with 10.

Setters Sanaa Hadjeb and Claudia Moi tossed 15 and 13 assists, respectively, with Sengara finishing with a team-high 18 digs.

SJC 1, MSU 3

The Red Hawks opened the match with a 25-16 win is the first set. SJC evened out the match edging the visitors 25-23 in set two. Montclair St. bounced back for 25-8 and 25-21 wins in sets three and four to earn the 3-1 win.

Goldstein led SJC with 11 kills and a .240 hitting percentage. Young added seven kills and four block assists with Melanie O'Hoppe coming away with six kills.

Sliva finished with a double-double of 32 assists and 10 digs. Senecal tallied a team-best 24 digs.

Carly Waterman led the Red Hawks with 12 kills while hitting at a .281 clip. Leah Higgins and Caitlin Lange finished with nine and eight kills, respectively. Setter Megan O'Rourke dished 30 assists and libero Maddie Valko scooping 26 digs.

The Golden Eagles resume Skyline Conference action on Tuesday, October 1 when they travel to face Sarah Lawrence College. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
