Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team won a tightly contested Skyline Conference contest, 5-4, against Purchase College on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in Skyline play as the Panthers drop to 5-3 and 3-2.

In doubles play, SJC took two of three matches including a first doubles thriller in which Jessica Jones and Angela Avecillas Martinez won a tiebreaker, 10-4, to clinch an 8-7 victory.

Trinity Behlen and Madison DiPalo won at second doubles, also via a tiebreaker.

Jones went on to secure a 6-2, 6-0 win at second singles, and Avecillas Martinez was an 8-6, 6-2 winner at fourth singles.

Angelina DeMonte registered the fifth win of the afternoon with a 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 result at sixth singles.
