Men's Volleyball Sees Historic Season End in NCAA Quarterfinals

Hoboken, NJ| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team saw its historic season come to an end with a 3-1 loss to #4 Stevens Institute of Technology in the NCAA Div. III Quarterfinals on Saturday evening.

SJC had a strong start claiming a 25-23 win behind a strong defensive effort of an 8-to-2 blocking advantage and a perfect 21-for-21 serve to receive combined with nine kills between grad students Paul Curaro and Mark Jensen.

Stevens adjusted in sets two through four taking 25-16, 25-14 and 25-15 wins courtesy of a .364 team hitting percentage with 23 blocks.

Curaro put down a match-best 14 kills in his final match as a Golden Eagle with six digs and two blocks. Jensen finished with 12 kills, six digs, three blocks, and two service aces. Sophomore Mark Williams pitched in with eight kills and a match-high nine digs.

Sophomore setter Clint Johnson tossed 34 assists and put up two blocks.

The Ducks were led by a 14-point performance by Koby Sherman who added six digs and four blocks. Nathan Lancia finished in double-digits with 10 kills while hitting at a .471 clip. Setter Louden Moran dished 40 assists and libero Phu-Quy Ho collected seven digs.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the season at 26-4 as the Ducks advance to the Final Four at 30-3.
