The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team played to a 1-1 non-conference draw with William Patterson University on Wednesday evening.
Top performers
- Senior Abbey Curcio found the back of the net in the 72nd minute
- Sophomore Alesandra Melendez was credited with the assist
- Junior keeper Mikayla Ritter spent all 90 minutes between the pipes making four saves on the night
- WPU's Lindsey Ash was responsible for the Pioneers' lone goal of the evening
How it happened
- The Pioneers were first on the board when a WPU corner kick was sent into the box and Ash managed to punch her shot through in the eighth minute of play
- St. Joseph's was held scoreless until late in the second half when Melendez found Curcio who one-timed it past a diving Sarah Mantilla for the equalizer
- Minutes later, the Pioneers brought the ball downfield, but Elisa Zuta's attempt at the bottom left corner was turned away by Ritter to preserve the draw

- The Golden Eagles were outshot 10-7 and were shutout of corner kick opportunities
