The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team shut out St. Joseph's Brooklyn in a 4-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers

• Senior Ana Lombardo finished with a game-high two goals

• Junior Emma Furey added one goal

• Senior Julia Cruz totaled one goal in the match

• Senior Carli LoNigro, junior Alesandra Melendez, and sophomore Erica Urbancik all secured one assist

How it happened

• The Golden Eagles found the back of the net early as Furey found space off a deflection just outside the attacking midfield zone for a long strike that found the upper left-hand corner of the goal

• Early on in the second half, SJLI's Cruz dribbled around a defender when the forward was able to fire a shot from the top of the box that snuck in the upper right-hand corner of the goal to take a 2-0 lead

• St. Joseph's (L.I.) kept the pressure on when LoNigro crossed the ball into the box and found the right foot of Lombardo to put it into the back of the net

• With the Golden Eagles up three, Lombardo again was able to put one past the keeper as a corner kick saw multiple deflections that eventually landed at the feet of the forward to secure the 4-0 victory
