The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's soccer team dropped its fourth conference matchup to USMMA in a 3-0, defeat on Tuesday evening.

Top performers

• Seniors Connor Owenburg, and James Dacos, and sophomores Deybris Martinez-Hernandez and Michael Iadanza all recorded one shot on goal

• Derek Vanasse, Jason Healey, and Billy Castoro of the Mariners all scored one goal

• Merchant Marine's Jack Oullete, Miguel Millan, and Patrick Novotny all added one assist

How it happened

• The Mariners were able to strike early as Healey found the ball in the box off a long throw-in to take the 1-0 lead

• St. Joseph's looked to respond with a shot from Lucas Peleaz but was blocked and just a minute later Dacos would find space for an opportunity but USMMA's keeper saved the chance

• Merchant Marine wasted no time as 22 seconds into the second half Vanasse received the ball in front of the goal as Novotny and Oullette were able to find the open man for the goal

• In the 60th minute, Castoro scored the final goal of the game off a corner kick from Milan to secure the victory for the Mariners

• St. Joseph's finished with 10 shots to the Merchant Marine's 15

• SJLI was awarded eight corner kicks to USMMA's 10

• All three yellow cards were assessed to give the United States Merchant Marine Academy
