The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's soccer team secured a Skyline Conference victory with a 2-0 shutout victory over St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon.

Top performers

• Junior Vincent Mariani finished with a game-high two goals

• Sophomore Nick Pensavalle totaled one assist

• Sophomore Lucas Pelaez added one assist

How it happened

• In the first ten minutes of action, SJLI's James Dacos led a counter-attack when he found Pensavalle who would later play a through ball to the right side where Mariani was able to put it away in the upper right-hand corner of the goal 

• Late into the first half, Pensavalle looked to build upon the lead when the forward found space for a chance but was turned away by the keeper

• The Golden Eagles would add to their lead in the 73rd minute when Pelaez assisted Mariani for his second of the game and secured the 2-0 victory 

Notes

• SJLI recorded nine shots while SJBK tallied 10 shots

• The Bears finished with five corner kicks compared to the Golden Eagles' two

• Six yellow cards were handed out in the match
