The St. Joseph's University-New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team stunned Farmingdale State College in a Skyline Conference sweep on Wednesday night in the Danzi Center.

How it happened
  • Set one started close, but the Golden Eagles started to pull away midway through with a kill from sophomore Nina Vanderhoof prompting a FSC timeout at 17-11. SJLI built a seven-point lead on a couple of occasions before Wolf closed out the set with her fourth kill, 25-19

  • St. Joseph's had a slight 5-4 advantage in set two before a 9-0 run had the hosts leading 14-4. The Rams never made a push and the Golden Eagles went ahead 2-0 in the match with a 25-13 win

  • SJLI jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the final frame, but this time Farmingdale chipped away eventually catching the Golden Eagles at 11. The Rams went ahead through the middle of the set, but a kill from Vanderhoof knotted the score at 18. Kills from Wolf and D'Ambrosio followed for a 20-18 lead that the Golden Eagles would hold on to completing the sweep with a 25-21 victory

  • As a team, the Golden Eagles posted a .228 hitting percentage while the Rams were held to .000

  • Both teams served four aces with SJLI putting up three blocks to FSC's two

  • Tonight's game was a part of the Dig for a Cure initiative and the Golden Eagles raised $900 for breast cancer research and awareness
