After both teams traded wins in the first two sets, the Golden Eagles broke an 8-8 stalemate with three unanswered points creating some distance at 11-8. The Bears inched to within one, 11-10, but the visitors held the hosts to just four points through the second half of the set for a 25-14 win and a 2-1 match lead

The Bears answered in the fourth frame and a 6-0 run midway through the set put them ahead 19-11 and forced a deciding fifth set with a 25-17 win

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an 8-3 lead prompting the teams to switch sides of the net. SJLI led by as many as seven, 12-5, before going on to secure the win, 15-9
