The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team came back for a 72-68 overtime win at Sarah Lawrence College on Wednesday evening.
Top performers:

Sophomore Megan Spina led all players with a double-double of 24 points on 9-for-22 shooting from the field and a team-best 10 rebounds

Graduate Casey Travers also finished with a double-double of 19 points and was 7-for-8 at the free-throw line while matching a team-high 10 boards and a team-best five assists

Junior Isabella Sierra rounded out the top scorers with 13 points and five rebounds

The Gryphons were led by an 18-point performance by Khailand Anderson-Strawder

How it happened:

The teams were knotted at six with 6:50 left in the first quarter before the Gryphons ended the frame on a 13-2 run taking a 19-8 lead into the second quarter

SLC opened the second with six unanswered points taking their largest lead of the night, 25-8

The Golden Eagles chipped away and a bucket from Spina cut the deficit to four, 29-24, with 2:17 remaining in the half

Back-to-back baskets from Sarah Lawrence closed out the frame sending the hosts into the break ahead 33-25

The Gryphons held a double-digit lead through the majority of the third quarter until a three from Julianna Knice and a pair of free throws from Spina moved the Golden Eagles to within five, 47-42, with just over a minute left on the clock

SLC ended the third with five straight points and a 52-42 advantage

After the Gryphons built a 60-47 lead three minutes into the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles strung together eight unanswered points to inch within five, 60-55

SJLI trailed by eight, 66-58, Spina dropped in a three, and free throws from Sierra and Travers brought the visitors to within one, 66-65, with 33 seconds on the clock

A free throw from SLC's Colleen Coughlin made it 67-65 with nine seconds left

Following a couple of timeouts, SJLI's Travers dished to Spina for a layup tying the game at 67 and sending it to overtime

All the scoring in overtime came by free throws with Spina and Knice combined for five points to secure the 72-68 win
