Senior Mark Williams knocked down 23 kills setting a new St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball four-set record as the Golden Eagles snapped New Jersey City University's 14-match win streak with a 3-1 Skyline Conference triumph on Tuesday evening.

How it happened:

The Gothic Knights held a 16-12 lead midway through the first set, but four unanswered points from SJLI knotted the score at 16. The two sides remained within a point of each other down the stretch until the hosts broke a 22-22 deadlock with three straight points for a 25-22 win and a 1-0 match lead

St. Joseph's bounced back quickly in set two using their best team hitting percentage, .467, including a perfect 7-for-7 performance from Williams, and evened the match with a 25-17 win

Set three was played closely with the team once against knotted up at 16. The Golden Eagles created some distance following a pair of NJCU attack errors and kills from Foglia and Anderson and went ahead 20-16, before going on to secure a 25-15 victory

NJCU never seemed to recover in set four as the Golden Eagles took an early 8-2 advantage and went on to lead by as many as 12, before cruising to a 25-14 win. Williams finished with six kills with Anderson pitching in with four. At the net, the visitors finished with a match-best five blocksÂ
