East Meadow, NY| The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's golf finished the fall season in second place at the end of Monday's second round of the Skyline Championships. Senior
Nick Gentile, and sophomore's
Chase Zere and
Jace Pesce all secured Second Team All-Conference honors.
Gentile led the Golden Eagles on back-to-back days of the Skyline Conference Championship with a score of 79 (+7) on day one and 77 (+5) on day two to capture seventh place for St. Joseph's. The senior also guided the Golden Eagles to capture a first-place finish at the St. Joseph's Tri-Match on September 12th, where the Dix Hills, NY native recorded a sixth-place finish score of 81 (+10). Gentile again added a sixth place finish with a score of 82 (+11) in SJLI's invitational where the Golden Eagles again finished in first place. The All-Conference member tied for fifth place with teammate Chase Zere for a fifth place finish, 77 (+4), at Farmingdale State College's Invitational where the team took second place.
Zere helped guide the Golden Eagles to a second place finish at the Skyline Conference Championships with a score of 74 (+2) on day one and 83 (+11) to take eight place just one stroke behind Gentile. The Ronkonkoma, NY native had a fifth place finish earlier this year with a score of 80 (+9) at St. Joseph's University L.I. Tri Match where the team took first. The Skyline Player of the Week had a first place finish this year at St. Joseph's University Long Island Invitational to lead the team to a first-place finish posting a score of 72 (+1). Zere tied earlier this month with teammate Gentile at the Farmingdale State College Invitational, 77 (+4), as the team took second place overall
Pesce took 11th overall at the Skyline Conference Championships with a day one score of 82 (+10) and a day two score of 81 (+9). Earlier this year the sophomore recorded a fourth place finish totaling a score of 79 (+8) at the St. Joseph's University L.I. Tri where the team took first place. The Riverhead, NY native captured eighth place at the St. Joseph's University Long Island Invitational securing a score of 88 (+18). Pesce tied for 13th overall at the Farmingdale State College Invitational with a score of 81 (+9).
