How It Happened

  • SJLI opened the game red-hot, jumping out to an 8–0 lead behind a quick Kenny Rodriguez three and a Jaiden Gaston jumper.
  • The Golden Eagles dominated the offensive glass in the first half (11 OREBs) but saw their early advantage slip away as Pratt connected on multiple threes to take a 28–21 halftime lead.
  • St. Joseph's surged early in the second half, using baskets from Rodriguez and tip-ins from Esposito to cut the deficit to a single possession.
  • A 5–0 spurt — capped by a Rodriguez layup — brought the Golden Eagles within 30–26, before Pratt answered with timely three-pointers from Graetz and Thomas to re-extend the margin.
  • SJLI continued to chip away, eventually pulling within one possession multiple times down the stretch thanks to Esposito's work inside and improved ball movement on the perimeter
  • Despite holding Pratt to just nine made field goals in the second half, the Golden Eagles couldn't convert a go-ahead opportunity late, as the Cannoneers held on for a one-point victory.
