The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team saw its season end with a 3-0 loss to #2 Southern Virginia University in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Records:

St. Joseph's (L.I.), 23-9, #2 Southern Virginia, 31-1

Top Performers:

• Junior Luke MacPherson finished with a team-best six kills and five digs

• Senior Logan Meyer added five kills and four digs 

• Middle Hank Foglia pitched in with four kills and two blocks

• Setter Will Kropp recorded 18 assists  

• Jeremy Brown of Southern Virginia recorded a match-high 12 kills with seven digs

How it happened:

• The match opened with both sides exchanging points before four unanswered points put the Knights ahead 11-7, forcing an SJLI timeout. But the Golden Eagles wouldn't be able to cut their deficit any closer than four, and Southern Virginia claimed the 25-20 win. MacPherson finished with a team-best four kills, with Tyler Anderson pitching in with three
   

• The Knights held a lead from start to finish in set two. The Golden Eagles inched to within one, 9-8, but SVU again rattled off four straight points, creating distance before cruising to a 25-17 win

• Southern Virginia completed the sweep with a 25-13 win in the third frame, hitting .364 as a team while holding the Golden Eagles to just four kills

• As a team, St. Joseph's (L.I.) hit .104 while Southern Virginia finished at .382

• The Golden Eagles finished with 23 digs and three total blocks, with the Knights recording 34 digs and 10.5 total blocks
