Women's Soccer Earns Second Conference Win

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer earns their second conference win against SUNY Maritime on Wednesday night at home.

Top Performers

  • Alyssa Schimmenti – Scored two goals and one assist for the Golden Eagles and four shots, with three shots on goal.
  • Emily Farrington – Scored two goals as well with three shots, two of which were on goal.
  • Kristina Gambino – Led the Golden Eagles with five shots, four shots on goal, and scored one goal.

How It Happened

  • St. Joseph's- L.I. started off the game on a positive foot, with senior Emily Farrington scoring the first goal of the game at 53 seconds, assisted by senior Alyssa Schimmenti
  • Later on in the first half, Schimmenti scores her first goal of the season and then scores a second goal.
  • The Golden Eagles's offense shined throughout the game, ended the first half 6-0 with 14 shots.
  • At the second half, St. Joseph's- L.I. went in with a new line up showcasing some new faces on the field, which two of the girls, junior Abigail Butler and senior Kristina Gambino, scoring their first goal of the season.
  • St. Joseph's- L.I. secures the 9-0 victory in the end, making it their second conference win of the season.

Notes

  • Five different Golden Eagles scored on goal, while Farrington and Schimmenti scored two.
  • The Golden Eagles led in shots 32-0, 20-0 on goal.
  • SJLI also led in corner kicks with 7-1.
  • Maritime's goalkeeper Quintero recorded 11 saves in the full 90 minutes.
