Women's Lacrosse Suffers a Loss at Home

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse suffers their fifth straight loss at home against McDaniel College, 20-6, on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers:

  • Junior Kaitlyn Ippolito led the team with two goals and two draw controls.
  • Sophomore Taylor Metzler scored two goals for the Golden Eagles.
  • Junior Emily Grace Passaro tallied one goal, one assist, four draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover.
  • Senior Madison Mattera tallied one goal and one ground ball.
  • Senior Maggie Harding finished with 10 saves and two ground balls.
  • The Green Terror's had six players score, with three players scoring five goals each, respectively.

How it happened:

  • McDaniel opened the game with a goal, which St. Joseph's answered back from Metzler to tie the score 1-1.
  • The Green Terror scored four more goals to end the first quarter 5-1.
  • McDaniel started the second quarter with a goal, shortly after Mattera scored the second goal for the Golden Eagles.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth with scoring, where Metlzer recorded her second goal of the game from a free position shot.
  • McDaniel scored with five seconds left, ending the second quarter 8-3.
  • The Green Terror recorded seven goals in the third quarter compared to SJLI's three, Ippolito recorded two goals and Passaro scored one goal within the quarter.
  • McDaniel scored the only four goals in the fourth quarter to secure the victory over SJLI.

Notes:

  • Sophomore Adrianna Carapezza made her collegiate debut as goalkeeper recording one save.
  • McDaniel collected 19 ground balls, while St. Joseph's collected 11.
  • The Green Terror had 15 draw controls, while the Golden Eagles had 13.
  • McDaniel caused nine turnovers, with SJLI causing six.
