Softball Splits with Baruch

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) softball team splits non-conference matchup with Baruch on Sunday morning.

Game One: Baruch 4, SJLI 1

Key Players:

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's opened the game in the bottom of the third with a run from Flannery from Tellier's double to center field.

  • Baruch answered back in the top of the fourth, tying the game 1-1.

  • Neither team would score a run until the seventh inning, when the Bearcats took control, scoring three runs to take the 4-1 victory in game one.

Game two: SJLI 9, Baruch 1

Key Players:

  • Senior Katelyn Lysogorski led the Golden Eagles with two runs scored, two hits, one RBI, one stolen base, and three strikeouts.

  • Senior Brooke Bove tallied two runs scored and one hit.

  • Junior Jacqueline Flannery led the Golden Eagles with one run scored, one hit, and one stolen base.

  • Freshman Julianna Dania scored her first career run.

  • Sophomore Sarah Murphy totaled one run scored and one RBI.

  • Busa and Murphy both earned one  run scored and one RBI each.

How it happened:

  • Baruch opened the game with one run scored in the top of the first.

  • Busa doubled to left center, resulting in Tellier to score for St. Joseph's to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third.

  • The Golden Eagles went on to score four runs in the fourth inning to take the 5-1 lead.

  • Tellier singled to the shortstop and advanced to second on an error by catcher, resulting in Flannery advancing to third and Lysogorski and Bove scored in the fifth inning.

  • SJLI finished the game with runs scored by Murphy and Daina to secure the 9-1 victory in six innings.
