Men's Volleyball Ends Regular Season Undefeated in Conference Action

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team remained undefeated in Skyline Conference play with a straight-set sweep of Manhattanville. The Golden Eagles won by scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-19 on Friday morning.

Key Players:

  • Chris Sarnicola led the attack with 10 kills and added 12 digs plus two blocks
  • AJ Esposito contributed with nine kills and a strong .571 hitting percentage, with one dig and one block assist
  • Declan Kerns posted eight kills and eight digs
  • Chase Meyer finished with seven kills and a team-high four blocks
  • Shaun Mischler added seven kills, three blocks, one service ace, and eight digs
  • Dominic Ruggiero orchestrated the offense with 38 assists and added 10 digs

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's (L.I.) got off to a solid start in the first set, using efficient attacking and timely blocks to build a lead and take the set 25-19.
  • The second set was all Golden Eagles. SJLI jumped out to a commanding advantage behind consistent offense and strong defense, cruising to a dominant 25-15 victory.
  • In the third set, Manhattanville kept it closer early, but St. Joseph's (L.I.) regained control with balanced attacking and solid blocking to pull away and finish the match with a 25-19 win, completing the sweep.

Notes:

  • The Golden Eagles hit an impressive .306 as a team with 42 kills while committing only 12 errors. They also held a slight edge in blocks (7-6).
  • SJLI limited Manhattanville to a .143 hitting percentage and forced 20 attacking errors.
  • St. Joseph's (L.I.) improved to 14-0 in Skyline Conference play with a strong road performance.
