James Pyatsky Appointed Men's Soccer Head Coach

St. Joseph's University, New York – Long Island Names James Pyatsky Men's Soccer Head Coach

PATCHOGUE, N.Y.|
– St. Joseph's University, New York – Long Island Director of Athletics Melody Cope has announced the hiring of James Pyatsky as the new head coach of the Golden Eagles men's soccer program. Pyatsky brings nearly a decade of collegiate and club coaching experience with a strong background in player development, recruiting, and program building.

Pyatsky is no stranger to St. Joseph's, having previously served as an assistant men's soccer coach with the Golden Eagles from 2016-2019 before returning to the staff in 2023. During his time with the program, he helped lead the team to a Skyline Conference Championship and an undefeated 11-0 conference record during the 2024 season.

In his role as assistant coach, Pyatsky played a key role in planning and executing training sessions, scouting opponents, recruiting prospective student-athletes, and developing both field players and goalkeepers. His familiarity with the program and commitment to student-athlete success position him well to lead the Golden Eagles into the future.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Pyatsky has served as Director of Operations and Girls Director of Coaching for Cantera Futbol since 2016, overseeing youth development and helping guide players toward collegiate and international opportunities. He also served as head women's soccer coach at Five Towns College in 2019, where he successfully recruited and assembled a full roster in just three months while implementing international recruiting initiatives and supporting student-athlete academic success.

Pyatsky's coaching background also includes time with Auburndale Soccer Club, where he coached youth players across multiple age groups and led teams in international competitions, including the Swedish Youth World Cup and Danish Cup.
"James has been an integral part of our men's soccer program and understands the culture, expectations, and values that define St. Joseph's Athletics," said Cope. "His passion for player development, recruiting experience, and commitment to the overall student-athlete experience make him the ideal person to lead our program moving forward."

Pyatsky earned his MBA from Long Island University Post and a bachelor's degree in sport management from University of New Haven, where he competed as an NCAA Division II goalkeeper. He currently holds a USSF C License and advanced goalkeeping and director of coaching diplomas.

"I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the men's soccer program at St. Joseph's," said Pyatsky. "This university and program have meant so much to me throughout my coaching career, and I look forward to continuing to build a culture centered around hard work, accountability, academic success, and competitive excellence. I'm excited to work with our student-athletes and help them grow both on the field and in the classroom."
