Billy Heenan

Billy Heenan returns to the St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's basketball coaching staff in September of 2025.

Heenan arrived in Patchogue after spending two seasons as the head boy's varsity basketball coach at Port Jefferson High School where he was responsible for all the program activities and game and practice prep. During his tenure, Heenan helped lead the Kings to All County and All State Player Long Island in FTM.

Prior to Port Jefferson, Heenan was the head coach for Develup AAU from August 2023 to August 2024 and the assistant boy's basketball coach at Eastport South Manor from July 2022 to June 2023.

No stranger from Division III basketball, Heenan attended SUNY New Paltz from 2012 to 2014 and transferred to St. Joseph's College where he graduated in 2016 with a Bachelors in Science in Business Management. As a member of the Golden Eagles squad, he was a two year starter and made the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll back in 2016. Heenan then became the assistant men's basketball coach for the Golden Eagles in September of 2020. In the 2020-21 season, Heenan assisted SJLI to a 15-9 season which was the best record since 2015 and brought in Co- Coach Of the Year award, one First Team All-Conference Player and the Rookie Of The Year.

A Long Island native, he graduated from Amityville Memorial High School.
