The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team fell to Mount St. Mary College, 69-56, in a conference match-up at the Danzi Center on Tuesday evening.
Top performers:

How it happened:

The Knights jumped out in front to take an 8-2 lead, going on an 8-0 run after SJLI scored the game's first basket

The Golden Eagles proceeded to score the next six points, with junior Felicia Barreiros' basket at the 4:59 mark tying the game at eight

Shortly after, St. Joseph's took a 13-11 lead on a basket for junior Isabella Sierra at the 2:55 mark

After the Knights' Cashin made a three, Sierra scored a three of her own a minute later to put SJLI ahead again, 16-14, before the hosts finished the quarter ahead by four (18-14)

Mt. St. Mary scored the first nine points of the second quarter to put them ahead by five (23-18) two and a half minutes into the frame

After a layup for Travers, a three for Barreiros knotted the game at 23 with 6:10 remaining in the quarter

The Knights responded with another substantial run, scoring 11 straight points which included three, three-point shots before sophomore Emma Kelly's three broke up the stretch with less than a minute remaining

Mt. St. Mary took a 10-point lead (36-26) into the break, as St. Joseph's was limited to just eight points in the quarter

A back-and-forth first six minutes of the third saw the visitors leading by 10 (47-37) at the 4:21 mark

MSMC scored four straight points to take a lead of 14, then a Barreiros layup capped the scoring of the quarter (51-39)

The visitors scored eight of the first 10 points to begin the fourth quarter, increasing their lead to 18 (59-41) at the 8:03 mark

The Knights extended their lead to 18 once again at the 5:44 mark to match their largest lead of the night, as Quinn's shot from beyond the arc put MSMC up 62-44

Baskets for Knice, Barreiros, and Sierra brought the hosts back within 10 (64-54) with 1:04 remaining but five made free throws in the final minute to solidify a 69-56 win
