Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team suffered a 57-50 loss to Manhattanville College in a conference match-up at the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers:

Graduate Casey Travers paced the Golden Eagles with 21 points, and tied for the team lead with 12 rebounds for a double-double. She went 8-for-8 on free-throws
Senior Lanyah Ford turned in a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, while adding two steals
Julianna Kascic led Manhattanville with 20 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double, shooting 7-for-10 from the field
Amanda Orlando scored 10 points with seven rebounds and three assists

How it happened:

After a back-and-forth first four minutes of the game, the Golden Eagles took a 7-4 lead on a three-point play for Ford at the 5:48 mark
The hosts finished the first quarter with a 7-0 run, with Ford scoring five of those points to take a 14-6 lead into the second quarter
St. Joseph's got off to a solid start in the second, scoring six of the first nine points of the frame, with Ford's basket at the 8:09 mark extending the lead to 11 (20-9)
One minute later, Travers made a three to give the Golden Eagles a lead of 13 (23-10)
Shortly after, Manhattanville found a groove, coming back to score 14 consecutive points over a four minute span to turn their 24-12 deficit into a 26-24 lead
