The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball bounced back for a 67-53 Skyline Conference win at Yeshiva on Sunday afternoon.
Top performers:
- Graduate Julianna Knice led the Golden Eagles with 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field while adding three rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists
- Senior Lanyah Ford finished with a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds with three assists
- Graduate Casey Travers rounded out the top scorers with 12 points and team-highs of five steals and four assists
- Yeshiva was led by a 21-point performance by Daniella Bessler
- Shai Rahamim added 15 points
How it happened:
- The Maccabees led by five (14-9) with just over two minutes left in the opening frame, but the Golden Eagles responded with nine unanswered points to jump ahead 18-14
- YU's Yuval Nitzan dropped in a three in the final seconds cutting the deficit to just one, 18-17, at the end of the first
- St. Joseph's trailed for the first portion of the second quarter until a layup from junior Felicia Barreiros followed by a three from Knice put the Golden Eagles back on top 28-24 with 3:50 left in the half before taking a 33-28 advantage into the break
- Yeshiva scored first to start the third quarter, but the Golden Eagles would hold them scoreless for the next five minutes of play while moving the score to 36-30
- SJLI would close out the quarter on a 7-2 run and head into the fourth leading 43-35
- The Golden Eagles opened the final frame with 12 unanswered points and a three from freshman Rebecca Vitale would give the visitors their largest lead of the day, 60-38, with 4:24 left in the game
- St. Joseph's managed to keep the Maccabees at a distance and cruise to the 67-53 win

- St. Joseph's shot 36.8% from the field and 32.1% from three-point range
- Yeshiva finished at 33.3% from the floor and 27.8% from long distance
- SJLI held the advantage in points in the paint (28-16)
- The Golden Eagles received 17 points from their bench to just five for the Maccabees
- St. Joseph's outrebounded YU 57–35
