Results:
The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's basketball team beat Pratt Institute, 87-61, in a non-conference match-up at the Danzi Center on Friday evening.
Top performers:
- Junior Xavier Allen scored 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field and grabbed 14 rebounds for a double-double, while adding a team-high five assists to lead the Golden Eagles
- Senior Terrin Roy turned in an 18-point performance of his own, going 6-for-7 from beyond the arc while adding a pair of steals
- Junior Alec Tabada and senior Spencer Malloy each contributed 12 points, with Tabada adding six blocks
- Patrick O'Gorman paced Pratt with 18 points while adding four rebounds and two assists
- Cameron Windt scored 12 points with two assists and a block
How it happened:
- The hosts scored the first four points of the game and six of the first eight, with Malloy scoring four of the first six points for St. Joseph's
- With the game tied at six, the Golden Eagles took a 9-6 lead at the 15:32 mark on a three-pointer for Roy
- With the hosts leading by three (14-11) at the 13-minute mark, St. Joseph's went on a 9-3 run to increase the lead to 23-14 at the 9:39 mark, with another three for Roy completing the run
- Malloy's fifth basket of the game gave the hosts a lead of 10 at the 7:20 mark (27-17), then 40 seconds later, Roy's third three of the game increased the lead to 30-17
- The Golden Eagles out-scored Pratt 12-3 in the final five minutes of the half to take an 18-point lead into the break (42-24), which was their largest lead of the half
- The Cannoneers began the second half with a 9-4 run that made it a 13-point game (46-33), then the Golden Eagles scored seven straight points to take a lead of 20, with Junior Thomas Bell's three at the 13:36 mark extending the lead to 53-33
- A three-point play for Pratt's Windt at the 10:42 mark cut the lead to 15 (55-40), before St. Joseph's went on a 10-0 run that extended the lead to 25. Allen scored five straight points to end the stretch, with his three at the 7:51 mark giving the Golden Eagles a 65-40 advantage
- SJLI maintained a lead of at least 19 for the rest of the game and took their largest lead with 2:33 remaining on Roy's six three-pointer of the game, which gave the hosts a lead of 29 (81-52) before they finished the night with an 87-61 win

- St. Joseph's shot 53% from the floor and 55.6% from three-point territory.
- Pratt was limited to a 37.9% shooting percentage from the field and 29.6% from beyond the arc
- The Golden Eagles held the advantage in points in the paint (32-20) and rebounds (39-32)
- SJLI received 22 points from their bench compared to Pratt's 15
