As both teams opened the game trading baskets, it was Allen and Roy who scored SJLI's first 19 points as the team pulled ahead by three with just under 10 minutes played in the first half

Just a minute later, the Golden Eagles pulled ahead by seven points (23-16) before the Privateers scored nine straight points, all coming from three-point range, to tie the game at 27

The first half came to a close, with St. Joseph's finishing on a 15-7 run capped off by a last-second shot from Thomas Bell to close out the first half up by eight points

Malloy opened up the second half scoring with a made layup in the paint off the pass from Roy (44-34) when Maritime responded with a 14-2 run over a six-minute span to take a two points lead

The Privateers would keep their momentum going as they added to their scoring run to make it a total of 27 points scored to SJLI's eight points to take a commanding nine-point lead (61-52) with seven minutes of action remaining
