Women's Basketball Takes Down Farmingdale, 82-66

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball picked up an 82-66 Skyline Conference win at Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon.

Top performers:

  • Graduate Casey Travers led the Golden Eagles with 17 points while adding a team-best eight rebounds and four assists

  • Junior Isabella Sierra finished with 16 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field and 7-for-10 from the free throw line

  • The Rams were led by Taneece Wooden with 20 points

How it happened:
  • The Golden Eagles used their best scoring run of the day, 15-0, in the closing minutes of the first quarter to jump ahead 27-10 after the first frame

  • A three from Travers at the 4:33 mark put the visitors ahead by 24, 43-19.

  • Following a triple from junior Hannah Greene, the Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the afternoon, 54-27, into the break

  • The Rams recorded the first seven points of the third, but junior Felicia Barreiros hit from long distance putting SJLI ahead 57-34

  • A pair of free throws from sophomore Gabrielle Andreacchi closed out the third quarter with the Golden Eagles leading 71-47

  • Farmingdale outscored the St. Joseph's 19-11 in the fourth, but the Golden Eagles came away with the 82-66 win

Notes:

  • St. Joseph's shot 38.1% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range

  • Farmingdale posted a 37.2% shooting percentage overall and 28.6% from beyond the arc

  • The Rams held the advantage in points in the paint (30-18)

  • SJLI received 31 bench points compared to the host's 20

  • St. Joseph's outrebounded FSC 47-38
