Top performers

• Junior Alyssa Schimmenti led the Golden Eagles, scoring one goal on one shot on goal

How it happened

• The first half saw a defensive battle as neither team could find the back of the net until the Gryphons ended the stalemate in the 42nd minute when Katey Beaver put it in the upper left corner of the net to enter the half with a one-goal lead
• As the second half got underway, Sarah Lawrence added to their lead in the 58th minute when Victoria Balbin got past the defensive backline to beat the keeper to make it a 2-0 game
• As the Golden Eagles pushed the ball into the offensive zone late in the second half, Schimmenti blasted a shot from the far side of the field to put it over the keeper's head to cut the deficit to just one with 20 minutes left of action
• As time was slipping away from SJLI, the Gryphons launched a counterattack with just two minutes remaining in the game as Sarah Lawrence put one final goal away to walk away with the victory
