Women's Volleyball Takes Down Sarah Lawrence on Senior Night

The St. Joseph's University-New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team pulled out a 3-1 Skyline Conference win over Sarah Lawrence College in the Danzi Center on Senior Night.

How it happened
  • Set one was a point-for-point affair until five unanswered points broke a 15-15 stalemate and gave the Golden Eagles a 20-15 advantage that they would hold on to for a 25-20 win

  • The teams were tied at nine in set two, but another 5-0 run for the host provided some breathing room en route to a 25-19 win

  • The third frame saw 16 tied scores and six lead changes, but it was the Gryphons who got a kill from Athena Kazos and an ace from Kailie Ferguson to stay alive with a 25-23 victory. Juliano and Wolf finished with six kills apiece in the set

  • SJLI trailed 10-8 in the fourth set, but freshman Sarah Hansen sparked a 7-0 streak for a 15-10 lead. SLC chipped away down the stretch but a kill from Wolf closed the match, 25-22

  • As a team, the Golden Eagles posted a .206 hitting percentage while the Gryphons were held to .132

  • SJLI finished with six aces with Sarah Lawrence ending with nine
