The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's basketball team continues one of the best starts in program history with a 73-42 Skyline Conference win at SUNY Old Westbury on Tuesday evening.

How it happened:

Barone gave the Golden Eagles its first double-digit lead, 15-4, with a layup midway through the opening quarter.Â

Minutes later the lead extended to 16, 22-6, when sophomore Rebecca Vitale hit from long distance and SJLI ended the first ahead 22-8

The scoring was a bit more even in the second quarter with the Golden Eagles holding a slight 16-17 edge for a 39-24 lead at halftime

St. Joseph's maintained their distance in the third quarter with Spina's layup with just over six minutes left putting the visitors ahead by 21, 48-27

A pair of free throws from sophomore Gabriella Andreacchi capped the scoring for the Golden Eagles with a 54-35 lead going into the fourth

SJLI held Old Westbury to just seven points in the final frame while dropping in 19 and cruising to a 73-42 win
