Men's Volleyball Takes Down Hunter, 3-1 on Saturday

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team takes down Hunter College in a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Top Performers:

  • Senior Mark Williams led the Golden Eagles with 14 kills, nine digs five service aces, two block assists, and one block solo
  • Sophomore Luke Macpherson collected 12 kills, three block assists, and one dig
  • Senior CJ Johnson finished with a game-high 43 assists, to go along with five digs and one service ace
  • Graduate Quinn Foglia totaled nine kills, four block assists, and two digs
  • The Hawks were led by Muhammad Al-Amine Mbaye who tallied 12 kills and eight digs
  • Kyle Foley of Hunter posted 12 kills, four digs, and one block assist
  • Hunter's Cooper Moran added 36 assists, seven digs, and two block assists

How it happened:

  • Set one saw the Golden Eagles jump out to an early 8-1 advantage, as SJLI pulled ahead by as much as 10 points, (18-8) to secure a set one victory 25-15
  • In the second set both teams traded points back and forth as the Hawks gained a 14-13 lead, St. Joseph's rallied with a 12-2 scoring run that closed out set two 25-16 in favor of SJLI
  • The third set saw again both teams trading points as the match was tied at nine a piece until Huner pulled away claiming set three 25-18
  • St. Joseph's pulled ahead midway through the set four taking a four-point lead, 14-10, Hunter looked to take control after cutting the lead to just 23-20 before the Golden Eagles finished the match 25-22
