Men's Volleyball Sweeps Bears, 3-0

Results:

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team secured another Skyline Conference sweep with a 3-0 win at St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on Monday evening.

Records:

St. Joseph's (L.I.), 12-4, 7-0 Skyline; St. Joseph's (Bklyn)  2-11, 1-6 Skyline

Top Performers:

  • Sophomore Logan Meyer led the Golden Eagles with six kills

  • Graduate student Jason Koehler added five kills

  • Setters CJ Johnson and  Dominic Ruggiero recorded 14 assists apiece

  • Alex Helfant led the Bears with nine kills and setter Keiran McMullan recorded 11 assists

How it happened:

  • The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening frame and maintained a healthy lead throughout as they went on to claim the set 25-13. Seniors Mark Williams and Tyler Anderson knocked down four kills each

  • St. Joseph's held a slight 10-12 lead in set two, but SJLI outscored the Bears 13-6 down the stretch for a 25-16 win and a 2-0 match lead

  • The Golden Eagles completed the sweep with a 25-17 win in set three. Meyer recorded all of his six kills to lead the attack while picking up three digs

Notes:

  • As a team, St. Joseph's (L.I.)hit .241 while holding St. Joseph's (Bklyn) to -.028

  • The visitors scooped up 31 digs with the hosts finishing with 23
