Women's Volleyball Drops a Pair, Wolf Records 1000th Career Point

The St. Joseph's University-New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches to UMASS-Boston, 3-0, and New York University, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

How it happened
  • After trailing early, the Golden Eagles worked their way back to tie set one at 16. UMASS managed to hold on down the stretch for the 25-22 win

  • Set two was a back-and-forth battle from the start with neither side leading by more than three until SJLI grabbed a 23-19 advantage. The Beacons came back to knot the score at 23 before both sides traded points with back-to-back aces by UMASS' Paige Coulson ultimately clinching the set 31-29 

  • The Beacons held momentum in the third frame cruising to a 25-17 win to complete the sweep

  • Wolf and Vanderhoof led the Golden Eagles with seven kills apiece. Wolf picked up a team-best 13 digs

  • D'Angelo tossed 17 assists while picking up 10 digs

  • Montefusco finished with 13 digs and three assists

How it happened
  • The Violets put up their best-hitting performance in the opening frame, .351, en route to a 25-15 win and a 1-0 set lead

  • The Golden Eagles fell behind early in set two and the Violets did not let them back in finishing with a 25-16 win

  • Set three saw much of the same as the Violets managed to come away with another 25-16 win and clinched the sweep
