The St. Joseph's University-New York (L.I.) women's volleyball fell short in a non-conference match on the road at Hunter College on Thursday evening.

• Senior Deirdre Carney led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills and three blocks

• Senior Jackie Wolf added nine kills while finishing with six digs

• Junior Luciana D'Ambrosio collected a match-high 10 digs with six kills

How it happened

• The Golden Eagles held an early lead in the opening frame, 8-3, but the Hawks chipped away to even the score at 14. The sides exchanged leads down the stretch but an ace from Hunter's Izabella Williams secured the 26-24 win

• Set two was tied at 10 before a 9-0 run put the Hawks ahead 19-10 en route to a 25-21 win and a 2-0 match lead

• The third set was closely played throughout with nine tied scores and four lead changes. Carney knocked down her six kills of the frame to put SJLI ahead 24-3, but three unanswered kills by the Hawks secured the sweep with a 26-24 win

• The Golden Eagles hit at a .198 clip with the Hawks finishing at .144

• Hunter served 12 aces to SJLI's four
