The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team held on for a 2-0 Skyline Conference win over Manhattanville University at Danzi Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Top performers

  • Graduate student CC Rosario scored the Golden Eagles' first goal late in the first half and dished an assist in the second half
  • Sophomore Alexis Pasciuta found the back of the net late in the second frame
  • Senior Emma Furey provided an assist
  • Sophomore keeper Kristin Vahle kept a clean sheet with five saves

How it happened

  • The Golden Eagles broke the stalemate when Furey dropped in a corner kick from the near side and found the head of Rosario and ultimately the back of the net in the 39th minute
  • Both sides had chances in the second half, but it wasn't until the final minute of play that Pasciuta took a pass from Rosario and blasted a shot to the top left corner of the net

  • St. Joseph's held an 18-13 shot advantage over the Valiants
  • The Golden Eagles took eight corners to Manhattanville's three
