  • Merchant Marine Academy would look to cut into St. Joseph's lead as they responded, going on a 16-8 scoring run to bring the lead to single digits with eight minutes to go in the first half
  • As a Justin Forest layup brought the Golden Eagle lead back to 11, the Mariners again answered an 11-0 scoring run to tie the game at 27 a piece with just under five minutes remaining in the half
  • Malloy and McNeely provided SJLI with the scoring output to help take a three-point lead (36-33) into halftime
  • In the early minutes of the second half, USMMA would capture their first lead of the game with a three-pointer from Mason Lavergne before back-to-back threes from McNeely allowed St Joseph's to take hold of a four-point lead again
  • The Golden Eagles would hold a slight lead for the next nine minutes of play before the game was tied at 50 with seven minutes left to play
  • SJLI's Turner would provide the offensive spark needed to gain control of the game as the guard scored or assisted on eight straight St. Joseph's point as they held a 58-53 lead with three minutes to go
  • A turnover from SJLI late provided the Mariners with an opportunity to bring the score within one point with 18 seconds left, but McNeely and Tabada closed the game and secured the Golden Eagles' victory
