Men's Golf Takes Second Place At Skyline Championships

Result

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's golf team earned a second-place finish at the Skyline Conference Championship, posting a two-round total of 641 (+65). Farmingdale State claimed the title at 598 (+22), while Mount Saint Mary placed third at 654 (+78).

Top Performers

  • Nick Gentile led the Golden Eagles with rounds of 79 (+7) on day one and 77 (+5) on day two for a 156 (+12)total, finishing seventh overall.
  • Chase Zere opened strong with a 74 (+2) before closing with an 83 (+11) to record a 157 (+13), placing eighth overall.
  • Jace Pesce posted rounds of 82 (+10) and 81 (+9) for a 163 (+19) finish, placing 11th overall.
  • Bailey Meyer carded an 80 (+8) in the opening round and an 85 (+13) on day two for a 165 (+21), tying for 14th overall.
  • Dominick Glatz recorded scores of 86 (+14) and 87 (+15) to finish with a 173 (+29), placing 29th overall.

How It Happened

  • After a solid 315 opening round, St. Joseph's added a 326 on day two to finish second in the eight-team field. 
  • Gentile and Zere anchored the Golden Eagles' effort with top-ten performances
  • Strong play from Pesce and Meyer secured top 15 finishes 
  • Gltaz rounded out the score for SJLI with a top 30 finish
  • Farmingdale State captured first place, finishing 43 strokes ahead of the field behind first place finisher Padruig Douglas (E), as St. Joseph's comfortably held off Mount Saint Mary by 13 strokes for second place.

Notes

  • Gentile, Zere, and Pesce were named to the All-Conference Second Team.
