- Jaiden Gaston led the Golden Eagles with 12 points, connecting on 4-of-11 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, as well as 2-2 for free throws, while adding two assists and four rebounds, and one steal.
- Erik Kubelka made his first collegiate appearance for the Golden Eagles, tailing nine points, 3-for-5 for both FG and 3PT, one assist, and two rebounds,
- AJ Esposito recorded seven points (3-for-4 FT) and five rebounds.
- For Stony Brook, Rob Brown III led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including seven three-pointers, while Jonah Butler added 21 points and two assists.
How It Happened
- Stony Brook opened the contest with a early two 3-pointer to make the score 6-0. St. Joseph's (L.I.) came back right after with a jumper and free throw from Esposito.
- The Seawolves then took a huge lead 20-3 until Kenny Rodriguez made a basket. After that was back-and-forth between the two teams, the score becoming 32-16.
- Stony Brook picked up the pace with a 23 point lead until Gaston snapped their lead with two good free throws, ending the first half 55-18.
- The red and white opened the scoring field for the second half with another 3-pointer from Brown III, shortly after Esposito made two free throws for the Golden Eagles.
- The Seawolves capitalized on SJLI turnovers, having multiple fast breaks and offensive oppertunties to raise the score.
- Despite the two good three-pointers by Kubelka and Gilad Shafir in the final minute, Stony Brook took the win 107-43.
