The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team was swept in a non-conference match by Kean University in the Danzi Center on Wednesday night.

Records:

St. Joseph's (L.I.), 1-4, Kean, 7-6

Top Performers:

• Junior Hank Foglia led the Golden Eagles with nine kills while adding four blocks

• Graduate student Tyler Anderson and junior Luke MacPherson pitched in with four kills with five and four digs, respectively

• Setter Will Kropp tossed 20 assists with three digs

• Chris Mitchell of Kean led all players with 18 kills while hitting at a .424 clip

How it happened:

• The opened frame was played closely featuring 12 tied scores and seven lead changes and neither side gained an advantage larger than five. The teams traded points in the back half of the set before three straight kills broke a 22-22 tie giving Kean the 25-22 win. Foglia finished with four kills on six attempts

• Set two saw the Cougars go on a 7-0 run putting their lead in double digits midway through, 17-7. Kean held St. Joseph's to just seven points down the stretch taking a 2-0 match lead with a 25-14 win

• The visitors claimed the first four points in set three. SJLI answered with three straight, but the Cougars responded with five unanswered taking a 9-3 lead. Kean would continue to roll not allowing the Golden Eagles to get within five for the remainder of the set en route to a 25-15 win

Notes:

• As a team, St. Joseph's (L.I.) was held to a .049 hitting percentage while Kean finished at .356

• Both sides served four aces and put up five total team blocks

• The visitors collected 35 digs with the hosts finishing with 25

The Golden Eagles continue non-conference play when they travel to Rutgers-Newark for a tri-match on Saturday, Feb. 15th. SJLI will face Brooklyn College at 1:00 pm before taking on the Scarlet Raiders at 3:00 pm.
