How it happened:

The Hawks hit a match-high .438 as a team in the opening set while holding the Golden Eagles to just -.042. New Paltz used a 4-0 to double their lead on the Golden Eagles, 10-5. NP maintained a lead throughout the remainder of the set to a 25-12 win. MacPherson and Anderson both finished with three kills

Set two saw 12 tied scores and three lead changes. A kill from Foglia knotted the score at 16, but a 6-2 run in favor of the Hawks gave them a 22-18 advantage before taking a 2-0 match lead with a 25-21 win

The Golden Eagles held off defeat with a narrow 27-25 win in the third frame. The set featured nine tied scores and four lead changes. Both sides went point for point down the stretch but back-to-back kills from Anderson and freshman Cole Violi secured the win sending the match to a fourth set

New Paltz led wire-to-wire in set four limiting the Golden Eagles to just eight kills. They built a lead of as many as eight on several occasions before claiming the match with a 25-20 win

As a team, St. Joseph's (L.I.) posted a .128 hitting percentage while New Paltz finished at .270
