Men's Volleyball Sweeps Manhattanville, 3-0

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team earned a Skyline Conference sweep at Manhattanville University on Monday night.

Records:

St. Joseph's (L.I.), 19-8, 17-0 Skyline; Manhattanville, 13-16, 11-6 Skyline

Top Performers:

  • Senior Logan Meyer finished with a match-best 15 kills while hitting at a .400 clip and collected five digs

  • Graduate student Tyler Anderson added seven kills, with freshman Cole Violi pitching in with six

  • Setter Will Kropp tossed 31 assists with four kills and four digs

  • Kyle Simmons and Joe Gandarillas of Manhattanville finished with a team-best 10 kills apiece

How it happened:

  • The Golden Eagles took a quick match lead with a 25-19 win in set one, hitting .393 as a team. Meyer recorded four kills on seven attempts, with Foglia and Anderson adding three kills apiece

  • St. Joseph's held a slight 16-15 lead in set two, but a 9-4 run in favor of the hosts led to a 25-18 win.

  • SJLI trailed through the majority of the third frame. Down 20-17, four unanswered points put the Golden Eagles ahead 21-20. The Valiants tied it up at 21 and again at 23, but a kill from Kropp and a Manhattanville setting error led to a 25-23 win

Notes:

  • As a team, St. Joseph's (L.I.) hit .278 while holding Manhattanville to .155

  • The Golden Eagles collected 37 digs and put up four total blocks. The Valiants finished with 39 digs and five total blocks
