Game One: SJLI 3, Old Westbury 2 Key Players: Junior Brooke Bove totaled one hit and one RBI Senior Gabriella Vacchio secured two hits on two at-bats Freshman Kristen Tellier tallied one hit and one run scored Senior Julia Ruocchio and junior Antonia Busa contributed one run scored Junior Caitlyn Herzing pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one hit and two earned runs How it happened: The Pnathers wasted no time finding the scoreboard as they scored in the top of the first on a double to right center to bring home one run before a failed pick off attempt later in the inning allowed another run to score Neither team would score a run until the sixth inning, when the Golden Eagles scored a run on a fielding error to bring the score within one SJLI rallied in the inning when Bove hit a single to center field that saw two runs come home and allowed St. Joseph's to take the lead and secure a game one victory Game two: SJLI 3, Old Westbury 8 Key Players: Sophomore Alexandria LaBarba led the Golden Eagles with two hits and one run scored Junior Katelyn Lysogorski finished with one hit and one RBI Junior Mariah Salvatto tallied one hit and one run scored How it happened: The Golden Eagles took an early lead in the top of the second when two runs scored on a fielding error by the first baseman, setting up Lysogorski hit an RBI-single to the pitcher that brought home Salvatto Old Westbury tied the game in the bottom half of the same inning on a two-RBI double to left center field and a RBI-single to left center field again as the game was tied at three at the end of the second inning The Panthers broke the stalemate in the bottom of the third as a sacrifice fly allowed one run to score with bases loaded It was again Old Westbury who would bring home runs in the fourth inning, securing two runs scored on three hits in the inning, to take a 6-3 advantage The Panthers added one run scored in the fifth and sixth inning to secure a game two victory over SJLI Up Next The Golden Eagles will host Baruch College on Tuesday, April 22, for a non conference matchup at 4:00 pm.  Print Friendly Version
