Men's Soccer Snaps Losing Streak Against Maritime

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's soccer snaps their three game losing streak against conference opponent Maritime on the road Wednesday night.

Top Performers

  • Sophomore Jack Deutsch scored two goals for the Golden Eagles and three shots, all were shots on goal.
  • Sophomore Aris Radillo and sophomore Jack Pulisic tallied one goal each.
  • Senior Sean Gordon and junior Jack Gomes recorded one assist a piece.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Dean Burchard totaled five saves and allowed one goal in the full 90 minutes.

How It Happened

  • St. Joseph's- L.I. started off the game strong on the offensive side but with no outlet.
  • In the 20th minute, Aris Radillo scored the first goal of the game for the Golden Eagles. Four minutes later Maritime answered back making the score 1-1.
  • The Golden Eagles stepped right back up with two goals back-to-back from Jack Deutsch and Jack Pulisic.
  • Right before the first half ends, Deutsch scored his second goal of the game, making the score 4-1.
  • The score remains 4-1 by the end of the game and Deutsch's goal is the game winning goal.

  • The Golden Eagles led in shots 20-11, 11-6 on goal.
  • SJLI also led in corner kicks with 12-3.
  • Maritime's goalkeeper LeBron recorded seven saves in the full 90 minutes.
  • Both teams recorded three yellow cards.
