How It Happened
- The game opened with St. Joseph's Brooklyn jumped out to an early lead behind hot perimeter shooting, but SJLI weathered the opening stretch and began to settle in defensively.
- Midway through the first half, the Golden Eagles used defensive pressure and transition opportunities to flip the momentum, turning a deficit into a steady scoring surge.
- A late first-half scoring run provided St. Joseph's Long Island with a nine point lead with three minutes remaining in the first half on a three pointer from Erik Kubelka
- The Golden Eagles would close out the first half up four points, with Gaston scoring seven points in the final five minutes of play of the half
- SJLI carried that momentum into the second half, extending the lead behind strong interior play and second-chance points going up by as much as nine points (45-36) just four minutes into the second half
- Rodriguez and Esposito helped push the advantage to double figures as the Golden Eagles controlled the tempo as Maxwell closed out a 12-2 scoring run with a layup with just 8:50 to play
- Despite the Bears cutting the deficit to just six points with two minutes to play strong free-throw shooting down the stretch sealed the road victory as SJLI closed out the 79–71 Skyline Conference win.
