How it happened:

  • Yeshiva came out aggressive, using layups from Yair Dovrat and Samet to build an early 6-0 lead; SJLI responded with a Jaiden Gaston three and a Hawkins layup to cut it to 8-5, but the Maccabees pulled away with efficient inside scoring and transition buckets to lead by double digits midway through the first half
  • The Golden Eagles hung tough briefly with Rodriguez assists leading to Esposito layups and Hawkins scoring inside, but Yeshiva runs, including a stretch where Samet and Dovrat combined for quick points off steals; SJLI trailed 41-22 at halftime
  • In the second half, Yeshiva opened the first two minutes on a 7-0 scoring run before Rodriguez ended the run with a layup followed by a Sommervil three to cut the deficit to 21, (48-27)
  • The Golden Eagles fought with Hawkins threes and Esposito free throws, including a small 7-2 run featuring Rodriguez's playmaking, but Yeshiva dominated the paint and boards
  • Yeshiva continued to capitalize on transition and second-chance opportunities throughout the second half, with Samet and Oselka combining for several quick buckets that kept the margin wide and prevented any meaningful SJLI rally
  • Late in the game, both teams emptied benches, with Chris Lally adding free throws for St. Joseph's; as the Maccabees claimed the victory
